FACULTY

The Early School's outstanding faculty has an average of 20 years teaching experience in early childhood education. This professional staff of more than thirty teachers and assistants are committed to the idea that each child is a unique learner who merits focused attention. Dedicated to their students and their families, our teachers share a common goal of fostering the social and educational growth of each child as they advance through the levels of The Early School.

Deborah Aronson Ziering,  Early School Director, has been an early childhood educator for over 26 years. She is a graduate of Trenton State College with a degree in Early Childhood Education, a concentration in Special Education and a minor in Day Care Management. Debbie, a pre-school math and language arts specialist, has developed the school's literacy-related curriculum for all age levels. She is a member of the Jewish Education Association as well as the National Association of the Education of Young Children.

Sheila Grossman, Early School Founding Director  initiated the early childhood program at Temple B'nai Abraham in 1974. With a degree in Early Childhood Education from Hunter College, Sheila is trained and certified in different models of therapy and in the Arts. She is a member of the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education, The Early Childhood Directors Network of MetroWest, the Board of Jewish Education of Metropolitan New York, and the National Association of the Education of Young Children as well as a charter member of the Livingston Youth Service Bureau's seminars and workshops on the development of interpersonal communication skills of children and their parents. Sheila has also created a model program of parenting courses.

Sheila is currently enjoying her parenting classes with Tot- Time and Baby Time. The Joys of Grandparenting will continue in the Fall. Shabbat and the Torah stories are still a highlight of her week as well as the stories of our holidays.

The Parents’ Council is the link among the parents of The Early School, school staff, temple groups and staff. Our goal is to enhance the early childhood educational experience for our children.

Parents’ Council is gearing up for the 2008-2009 school year. We’re kicking off the school year with our Opening Breakfast on Thursday, September 25, 2008.  It’ll be a great opportunity to meet and socialize with other Early School parents.  In September, we’ll also begin our annual Challah program, a Parents’ Council fundraiser which offers the Early School children an opportunity to bring home a Challah to share with their families every Shabbat.   We will also continue to offer a weekly bagel lunch.  The weekly pizza lunch was such big hit with the K-Readys and will be back this year for both the K-Readys and the 3’s.

Our biggest fundraiser, the Annual Marketplace, Book Fair and Bake Sale, is scheduled for Thursday, November 20.   What a wonderful opportunity  to show support for the Early School and shop for holiday gifts at the same time! Tot Shabbat services, dinner and activities provide a great way to socialize with other Early School families.  We will continue to sponsor the monthly entertainment and pizza lunch for the students. Many of the shows we had last year, which the children loved will be back ,as well as some new ones. Enjoy Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2009. Other new fundraising and social events are also being planned. The Parents’ Council is also responsible for the K-ready’s Field Day and yearbook as well as the teacher appreciation dinner.

We encourage all parents to participate in helping to make this year a success. Our fundraising efforts for this school year will continue to be directed toward the new library, as well as other special religious, educational and cultural programs.  Remember that all monies raised by the Parents’ Council go directly back to the children and the children love to see their parents involved in their school. Please contact us if you have any new ideas or suggestions, or if you would like to volunteer on one or more of our committees.
